logo ministarstvaThe Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Croatia in Belgrade was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia to be delivered a Note of Protest regarding the incident that occurred in Zagreb at the meeting of the Croatian Party of Rights (AHSP), whose supporters called out pro-Ustashi and anti-Serb political slogans in front of the Serb National Council in Zagreb, setting fire to a copy of “Novosti”, an independent Serb weekly.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia holds that such an incident provoked by a neo-fascist political group in Croatia, headed by its president, in the presence of Croatian police officers, exemplifies incitement of national hatred and intimidation of members of the Serb national minority living in the Republic of Croatia, an attempt at revisionism of history, as well as at glorification of the Ustashi movement and its insignia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia expects the perpetrators of criminal acts to be indicted and punished, as provided for by the law.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia expects that, in the spirit of preserving and further developing bilateral relations, the relevant Croatian institutions will prevent such rallies inescapably ending in insults to representatives of the Serb national community in Croatia, and Serbs in general”, reads the Ministry’s Protest Note.
