Enhancement of Cooperation between Serbia and Spain

State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Nemanja Stevanovic received today Secretary of State for the European Union ​ at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Kingdom of Spain Jorge Toledo Albiñana.

In the talks, both sides noted that the bilateral relations between Serbia and Spain were excellent and marked by an intensive political dialogue, but that additional efforts were required to promote economic cooperation.

It was assessed that Serbia and Spain cooperated successfully at the multilateral level, too, and both sides expressed their common belief that they would maintain their fruitful cooperation in international fora and other bodies in the future, too.

State Secretary Stevanovic thanked the Kingdom of Spain for its principled position regarding non-recognition of Kosovo.

With regard to the situation in Catalonia, Secretary of State Jorge Toledo Albiñana expressed his gratitude for Serbia’s support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Spain and for the respect of its constitutional order.

Secretary of State Jorge Toledo Albiñana particularly emphasized that Spain would continue to lend its full support to Serbia on its path towards full membership of the European Union.
