First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) Zahir Tanin, in the context of Mr. Tanin’s regular visit to Belgrade, on the eve of the forthcoming meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the work of UNMIK.
In the talks, the sides expressed their assessments of the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, prospects of the Belgrade – Pristina dialogue, and of the work of UNMIK.
The interlocutors stressed the importance of the Mission’s further unabated engagement in areas vital for the survival and a normal and dignified life of the Serbs and members of other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija.
Minister Dacic expressed his special gratitude for the efforts invested in the implementation of UNMIK’s mandate, as well as his expectation that the Mission would continue to carry out this mandate in the coming period, too, in line with the UNSC Resolution 1244 (1999).
