Minister Dacic and Minister of Eritrea Saleh sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the two Ministries

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea Osman Saleh signed today a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Eritrea on the establishment of political consultations on issues of common interest.

In a cordial meeting, which preceded the signing of the said Memorandum, both sides agreed that the bilateral relations between the two countries were good and friendly, and stressed that there was room for intensifying the cooperation in all fields.

Minister Dacic pointed out that this was the first visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2012, thus becoming a historic one in the relations between the two countries. Minister Saleh, in this regard, invited Minister Dacic to pay a return visit to Eritrea, as soon as possible.

Both sides expressed the need to intensify activities towards continuous political dialogue and shared interest in establishing and further strengthening all aspects of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic sphere.

Minister Dacic expressed his gratitude for the support of the State of Eritrea to the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Serbia and expressed hope that it would continue in the future. He expressed the belief that there was a lot of scope for development of bilateral cooperation, especially in foreign trade, which was underdeveloped, bearing in mind the economic possibilities of the two countries.

Minister Saleh said that the peoples of the Republic of Serbia and the State of Eritrea are brotherly peoples, sharing the same values, in particular the right of every state to territorial sovereignty and integrity, and that the State of Eritrea continued to support foreign policy priorities of Serbia in all international organizations and forums in which it would take part.
