Minister Dacic in talks with President of the Bundestag

Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with Mr. Norbert Lammert, President of the Bundestag.

In the talks, both sides estimated that the bilateral relations were very good and characterized by intensive cooperation in all areas and by a regular high-level dialogue. They noted the commitment to the further strengthening of all forms of cooperation, also supported by an increasingly diverse and deepened cooperation between the two Parliaments.

The very good economic cooperation was an important aspect of the two countries’ relations and had a potential for further development, showing a rising trend in foreign trade.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the support Germany extended so far to Serbia’s European integration process and his hope that Germany would continue to consistently pursue such a policy.

Mr. Lammert stressed that the bilateral relations with Serbia were of great importance to Germany. He emphasized the importance of reforms in the fields of the rule of law, institutions and the independent judiciary for Serbia’s progress towards the European Union.

In the meeting, the officials underlined the need to continue the high- and top-level dialogue. Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic underscored that Germany would always be able to rely on Serbia as a reliable and constructive partner.
