Minister Dacic meets with high officials of Moldova in Chisinau

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic is on a day-long visit to the Republic of Moldova where he met with the Prime Minister of Moldova, Pavel Filip, as well as his Moldovan opposite number, Foreign Minister Andrei Galbur.

In an exceedingly friendly atmosphere, it was mutually noted that the relations between Serbia and Moldova could serve as an example of good relations between two countries. It was mutually acknowledged that the high level of political relations called for further contacts between the two countries at all levels.

In this regard, Head of Serbian diplomacy Ivica Dacic invited the Prime Minister of Moldova to an official visit to Serbia, as well as the Foreign Minister to pay a visit and take part in the activity of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), currently chaired by Serbia, which was gladly accepted.

They agreed on holding bilateral consultations between the two Ministries as soon as possible, in order to exchange experiences related to Serbia’s and Moldova’s European integration processes, considering both countries’ orientation to EU membership. At the same time, it was noted that contractual status should be considered and signing of an agreement ensured on the two countries’ cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

In today’s meeting, the interlocutors agreed that economic cooperation should be intensified considerably, realizing that it was, to a large degree, behind the level of our political relations.

Special attention in the talks was given to the importance of the principle of territorial integrity of both countries, and mutual support extended in this context. The Moldovan side offered firm assurances that their position concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo and Metohija would not change.
