More frequent meetings between Serbian and Nepal businessmen to present their economies and cooperation potentials

Nepal Chamber of Commerce in KatmanduFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, who is on an official visit to Nepal, visited today the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Katmandu. 

In his talks with members of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and prominent invitees, the Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his pleasure at visiting Nepal. He underlined that the relations between Serbia and Nepal were traditionally good, based on mutual understanding and trust. He pointed out that, in the coming year – 2019, Serbia and Nepal would mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of their bilateral relations, and expressed hope that Serbian and Nepal businessmen would participate in this important celebration, in order to intensify the development of relations between the two countries. 

“I am very pleased with the progress achieved in the economic cooperation between Serbia and Nepal, over the past years, particularly through the presence of Nepal companies in Serbia. I am primarily referring to “CG Corporation” of Katmandu, which opened in Ruma, on 5 October 2017, its first European factory for the production of noodles and other semi-processed pastries.”

Minister Dacic emphasized that Serbia had an interest in enhancing its economic relations with Nepal, both in the area of trade, as well as on the level of investments and participation in infrastructural and other projects in Nepal. The Minister further underlined that the Serbian economy had a strong agricultural potential and an interest in offering Nepal its agricultural products and cooperation in the area of scientific-technical cooperation in agriculture.

“I believe that our today’s meeting is the initial step in the establishment of direct contacts between the chambers of commerce of Serbia and Nepal, and I hope that we will soon have an opportunity to welcome in Serbia some of the businessmen who are here with us today,” stated the Serbian Foreign Minister.

Bearing in mind that the two markets were far apart, and the insufficient knowledge of the economic potentials of our countries, Minister Dacic proposed more frequent meetings between Serbian and Nepal businessmen, organization of promotional activities aimed at presenting our economies and their cooperation potentials. Nepal businessmen accepted the proposal of Minister Dacic to visit Serbia, and the visit would take place this September.

“I would like to assure you that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, i.e. its Chamber of Commerce and relevant economic institutions, as well as the Serbian Embassy in New Delhi, will be your competent and well-intentioned interlocutors who will be at your disposal for any information, data or advice you may need in the assessment of your interests and business opportunities in our country. I am looking forward to meeting you soon in Serbia, where you are always welcome”, concluded Minister Dacic in his address.
