Satisfaction expressed over a high level of Serbia-EU cooperation in the framework of Common Security and Defence Policy

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Mikhail Kostarakos, who is on a two-day visit to Serbia.

In the talks, they expressed mutual satisfaction over a high level of Serbia-EU cooperation carried out in the framework of the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). Serbia currently participates in four EU-mandated military operations, as one of just 4 non-EU countries that signed an Administrative Arrangement for cooperation with the European Defence Agency and having recently become part of the EU Battlegroup by joining the EU Balkan Battlegroup HELBROC, led by Greece.

In today’s meeting, it was emphasized that the EU recognized and appreciated an active and constructive contribution made by Serbia in the CSDP context, thus building mutual trust, developing capacities, strengthening their interoperability and jointly contributing to global peace and security.

The talks with General Kostarakos presented an opportunity to discuss new initiatives and prospects for further strengthening the Serbia-EU cooperation in this field.
