First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Ghana Aaron Mike Oquaye.
Minister Dacic recalled the decades-long traditionally good relations between Serbia and Ghana and called for the strengthening of cooperation in all areas of common interest.
The Minister informed his collocutor of Serbia’s position concerning Kosovo and Metohija and the progress in the EU-facilitated Brussels dialogue.
Mr. Oquaye, Parliament Speaker of the Republic of Ghana, emphasized that he was pleased to be the first Ghanaian official to visit Serbia in many years and had an opportunity to confer with friends in the city that hosted the First Conference of the Non-Aligned Movement, founded, among others, by then Yugoslav leader Josip Broz Tito and the first President of an independent Ghana Kwame Nkrumah.
The two officials agreed that the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries, sharing a long and rich history dating back to Ghana’s declaration of independence, were an excellent foundation for the promotion of cooperation in agriculture, education, trade and other areas as well as for further mutual support in international fora.
