Bilateral political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Hellenic Republic were held in Belgrade on 2 December 2016.
The Greek delegation was headed by Ambassador Petros Mavroidis, Political Affairs Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, while the Serbian delegation was led by Ambassador Goran Aleksic, Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Bilateral Cooperation.
Both sides noted the traditionally close and friendly relations existing between the two countries and expressed desire to promote them further, while the Hellenic Republic reaffirmed its strong support to the European integration process of our country.
Serbia’s delegation reiterated its gratitude to the Hellenic Republic for its position concerning respecting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia, expressing its expectation that the position of Greece on this issue would not change. Furthermore, the officials discussed a number of issues on the bilateral agenda during the meeting, also exchanging views on the current situation in Western Balkans region countries, migration crisis, as well as topics of wider international importance.
It was agreed to continue the good cooperation in the same format in the first quarter of 2017.
