First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic assessed that the statement made by Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati showed that the essence of Albanian policy was that the crimes against the Serbs were allowed and that dialogue only served the purpose of further affirmation of Kosovo’s independence.
“This is an insult for all the victims of KLA/UÇK, as a result of whose crimes we recently saw the establishment of a Special Court, too.
Serbia favours a constructive dialogue but will not be intimidated and have anyone imposing conditions on it or humiliating it. Abuse laid at the door of Mr. Aleksandar Vucic because of his stance on Haradinaj show to what extent Albania doesn’t care about having good relations with Serbia. If Vucic, as Mr. Bushati put it, lives in the past, in what kind of a dark cave do the Albanian politicians in Albania and Kosovo live? That is why they decided to order the Albanian emigrants to protest in front of the Serbian and French diplomatic and consular missions in the world, as they did today in New York.
In addition to this, we have received security intelligence to the effect that members of the Albanian Diaspora are planning to force Serbia into relinquishing its request that Haradinaj be tried, by storming some of our diplomatic and consular missions either in the United States or in Europe. This information has been passed on to police and security services of the said countries and to all Serbian diplomatic and consular missions which have been instructed to take preventive protection measures. This proves what Albanian politicians are capable of – even of resorting to terrorism.
Serbia forewarns all countries that they are responsible for the security of the Serbian missions, and it draws the attention of the Albanian politicians not to play with fire and that Serbia will protect its interests. Serbia will not give up on pressing charges against Haradinaj or anyone else who committed crimes against the Serbian people. The Serbian people, like any other, deserves justice.”
