First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic had talks today with Under-Secretary and Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Grete Faremo, who is paying a two-day visit to the Republic of Serbia.
Minister Dacic expressed his pleasure at Greta Faremo’s visit to the Republic of Serbia, particularly considering that her last visit to Belgrade took place in September 2017, testifying to the intensity and quality of cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and UNOPS.
The talks predominantly focused on current UNOPS projects carried out in the Republic of Serbia and the possibilities for further cooperation enhancement.
The Serbian Foreign Minister thanked the UNOPS Office in the Republic for offering its expertise and support to Serbia in capacity-building aimed at effective implementation of numerous projects, which is of particular importance to comprehensive reforms carried out by the Serbian Government, and to the country’s EU integration process. Minister Dacic also expressed his confidence that, together with other UN agencies active in Belgrade, UNOPS would continue its contribution to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Both sides expressed their satisfaction at the entry into force of the Agreement concerning the establishment of UNOPS Office Belgrade on 17 December 2017, which will significantly facilitate the implementation of many UNOPS projects carried out in the Republic of Serbia.
