Bilateral consultations between Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Finland regarding European integration and bilateral cooperation were held in Belgrade, on 25 April 2016.
Serbian delegation was headed by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for the EU, Ambassador Marina Jovicevic, and the Finnish delegation was headed by the Director General for Europe, Ms. LiisaTalonpoika. Finnish delegation confirmed its strong support for Serbia’s EU integration process. Wide variety of issues discussed included topics such as European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, regional cooperation, migrations and bilateral issues.
It was noted that the bilateral relations between Serbia and Finland were good, without any open issues. Delegations also discussed possibilities for further bilateral cooperation, focusing on efforts to improve economic cooperation which has been marking an upward trend over the last year.
In addition to the meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Finnish delegation also had a meeting with Ms. Tanja Miscevic, Head of the Negotiating Team for negotiations with the EU, and with members of negotiating team in charge of the chapters 23 and 24.
