Minister Dacic supportive of activities of the Association of Workers and Disabled Workers from Croatia

Minister DacicFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received representatives of the Association of Workers and Disabled Workers, exiled from Croatia, based in Banja Luka.

The representatives of the Association informed Minister Dacic about the problems they were facing in the exercise of their fundamental human rights, including economic and social rights of Serbs holding citizenship of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who fled Croatia between 1990 and 1996.

They pointed to systematic discrimination on the basis of ethnicity by the Croatian state authorities through denial of their right to restitution of movable and immovable property as well as of their acquired rights arising from pension and disability insurance schemes for persons who had lived in Croatia before the conflicts, failure to resolve status issues in Croatia and discrimination against a large number of persons with regard to income earned from the privatization process and on the basis of past and current work.

Minister Dacic stressed that it was sad that massive injustices done to persons belonging to Serbian people who had fled Croatia were still not redressed.

He supported the activities of the Association of Workers and Disabled Workers, conveying readiness of the Republic of Serbia to provide all the necessary assistance in their struggle for the exercise of their legitimate rights.
