A trilateral meeting between Serbia, Turkey and Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at the level of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, on the margins of the general debate of the 71st United Nations General Assembly session. The Ministers agreed that good relations among the three states should be developed, that they mutually supported the European integration process and they particularly highlighted that it was necessary to strengthen economic cooperation and to support Turkey’s proposal regarding the work on the implementation of projects in the areas of infrastructure, transport, energy, agriculture and tourism.
The three Ministers agreed that regional stability was the key factor for the region’s development. They agreed that the next trilateral meeting be held in Ankara, in October, to be followed by a business forum in Istanbul.
First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met yesterday in New York the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.
Topics of joint interest were considered in the talks with the Russian Foreign Minister. The Ministers pointed to the importance of friendly and traditionally good relations between our two countries. They talked about possible bilateral visits of high officials and particularly referred to the Serbian Chairmanship-in-Office of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC). Among other, Minister Lavrov made inquiries about the process concerning the election of the new Secretary General.
The Serbian Foreign Minister also met yesterday Prak Sokhonn, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia. On 22 September 2016, the Ministers signed the Agreement on the Abolition of Visas for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports. On the occasion, the Ministers agreed that this was a significant step that will contribute to the enhancement of bilateral relations and to the solidification of economic cooperation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia made a proposal to the effect of marking, in an appropriate manner, the 60th anniversary since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Serbia and Cambodia, in 2017.
