First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had a telephone conversation with the newly appointed UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who will take office on 1 January 2017.
Minister Dacic congratulated Guterres once again on his appointment, wishing him success in the discharge of his responsible duties as Secretary-General of the United Nations, the organization which has made a historic contribution to establishing and safeguarding world peace.
Dacic underlined that Serbia was committed to peace, stability and confidence-building in the region, anticipating continuation of UNMIK mission in Kosovo and Metohija, without any changes as to its size and mandate.
The Serbian Foreign Minister invited Guterres to visit Serbia next year, among other things, to formally open the UN House which the Serbian Government made available for use in the coming ten-year period, free of charge, enabling all UN agencies, programmes and funds in Serbia to be under the same roof.
