Conference “Regional response to global problems in cyberspace” was held today at Science and Technology Park in Belgrade.
The conference was opened by the State Secretary at the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Ms. Tatjana Matic, and by the Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic.
In addressing the conference, Ambassador Filipovic said that along with terrorism and stability of energy supplies, cybersecurity was one of the most significant global challenges facing us today. He stressed the need for an international consensus on rules of conduct in cyberspace and the fight against all forms of its abuse.
Speakers at the conference included top cybersecurity experts. The importance and the role played by the United Nations Group of Governmental Experts dealing with the development of information and communications technologies (ICT) were highlighted in the context of international security 2016-2017, as well as the contribution to the Group’s work made by the Republic of Serbia.
The conference also emphasized that the Republic of Serbia supported the efforts and activities of the United Nations and the OSCE aimed at establishing confidence building measures among states, which were considered key forums in discussing these issues.
