First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had today a separate bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides, a member of the delegation led by President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis who is paying a visit to the Republic of Serbia.
In the talks, both Ministers assessed that the bilateral relations between their states were based on strong friendship and historically affirmed close ties and solidarity between the two peoples. The interlocutors expressed their countries’ full understanding and mutual support in the protection of national interests, primarily those of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Cyprus.
Minister Christodoulides underlined the strong support of his country to the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, which he sees as the front-runner for EU membership.
The Cyprus Foreign Minister invited Minister Dacic to visit the Republic of Cyprus shortly, in order to prepare the second joint session between the two governments, to be presided over by Presidents Nikos Anastiadis and Aleksandar Vucic, which is planned to be held in Cyprus, before the end of the year. It was further agreed to intensify cooperation between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs on all issues of common interest for which a consultations Plan will be agreed as early as possible.
