First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic sent a telegram of condolences to Secretary of State of the United States of America Mike Pompeo following the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting, which took a toll of 11 human lives.
“I was deeply shaken by the news of the senseless act committed at the synagogue in Pittsburgh. Having suffered crimes on the grounds of ethnicity and religious affiliation, the Serbian people condemns this heinous crime, deeply sympathizing with the U.S. citizens and the Jewish people.
This senseless act must be a reminder to us all, and a warning against a dangerous revival of the ideology and political practice which led to atrocities in the past. It is incumbent upon us to fight against it, since letting a crime fall into oblivion is a crime in itself and an encouragement for such appalling acts to be repeated.
May I take this opportunity to extend to you and to the people of the United States, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, the expressions of our most profound condolences and deepest sympathies to the families who have lost their loved ones, wishing a speedy and successful recovery to those injured”, reads the telegram of condolences signed by Minister Dacic.
