First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had a meeting, on 22 January 2016, with Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF Yoka Brandt, who is on a visit to Serbia from 20-23 January.
The talks dealt with the current refugee/migrant crisis, particularly focusing on the position of the most vulnerable group – children and mothers with babies, and the manner in which UNICEF, in cooperation with the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the United Nations partner agencies, contributed to the improvement of their situation on the ground. In this context, Brandt commended the Serbian Government for its outstanding efforts aimed at addressing the current crisis.
Dacic assessed that the perennial cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and UNICEF, dating back to 1947, had been highly successful and that continued efforts were made towards its further enhancement.
