Regarding the statement of President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor, given while visited by Hashim Thaci on 6-7 June 2016, Vladimir Gasparic, the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the Republic of Serbia, has been summoned today to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On this occasion, the Acting Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Goran Aleksic, delivered to Ambassador Gasparic the Ministry’s protest note against the statement of Slovenian President Borut Pahor callinf for recognition of so-called Kosovo’s independence and supporting its membership in international organizations and integrative processes.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalls in the note that this is not the first time that Slovenian officials have called for recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo, thus jeopardizing the highest interests of the Republic of Serbia.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia points out that statements of Slovenian officials concerning the unilaterally declared independence of so-called Kosovo fundamentally undermine the efforts invested by the Republic of Serbia and the European Union into the status-neutral Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the only legitimate framework for achieving stability in Kosovo and Metohija. It was brought to the attention of the Slovenian side that it should refrain from such and similar statements in the future, which are directly damaging to bilateral relations and mutual trust between our two countries.
