On the fringes of the 39th Session of the UNESCO General Conference, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met with Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova.
Minister Dacic expressed his gratitude to Director-General of UNESCO Irina Bokova for her efforts made so far, leadership of the Organization, principled adherence to UNSC Resolution 1244 concerning the issues of interest to our side, as well as the efforts she invested in the field of protection and preservation of cultural heritage in war zones.
He commended the successful work done by Ms. Bokova as head of the Organization, despite facing serious financial shortfall in the UNESCO budget all but throughout her entire term of office.
Both sides underlined their satisfaction at the successful cooperation between Serbia and UNESCO, as well as at the work in the framework of the Executive Board of UNESCO, where Serbia had been a member since 2015.
Today’s meeting with Director-General of UNESCO was also attended by Minister of Culture and the Media of the Republic of Serbia Vladan Vukosavljevic.
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova thanked the Minister for the congratulatory messages and underlined that, throughout her mandate, she had enjoyed Serbia’s support concerning activities in the framework of the UNESCO Constitution. She wished every success to the delegation of the Republic of Serbia attending the 39th Session of the UNESCO General Conference.
