First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dačić met today with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev, who is on an official visit to our country.
At a joint press conference, Minister Dačić emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic was a great fried of Serbia and that was why the cooperation with that country should continue to develop.
“We have agreed I should visit the Kyrgyz Republic next year for the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations on 25 June”, said the Head of Serbian diplomacy.
Minister Dačić also said that the two countries should promote all forms of cooperation, particularly in the economic field. He recalled that last year’s volume of trade amounted to around 15 million US dollars.
In addition to bilateral issues, the heads of Serbian and Kyrgyz diplomacy discussed cooperation in international and regional organizations. Minister Dačić promised that Serbia would support Kyrgyz candidature for a non-permanent seat on the Security Council of the United Nations.
Minister Abdyldaev characterized the talks as constructive and friendly covering a wide range of issues. “Serbia is a friendly country and a reliable partner at the international scene”, said the Head of Kyrgyz diplomacy.
He reiterated Kyrgyz support to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Serbia. “Territorial integrity and sovereignty are the highest values that need to be protected by leaders and people”, Minister Abdyldaev said.
Following the meeting, the two ministers signed an agreement between the Governments of the two countries on abolition of visas for holders of ordinary passports. Ministers Dačić and Abdyldaev agreed that the agreement on abolition of visas was one of the best ways to express friendship.
