First Deputy Prime Minister of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, H.E. Mr. Ivica Dacic has received today the civilian segment of the delegation from the National Guard of Ohio, visiting Serbia from 3 to 9 September as part of the military-civilian delegation.
The civilian part of the delegation was headed by South Euclid Mayor Georgine Welo, who is of Balkan descent.
During the meeting, both sides expressed their satisfaction over the visit of the Mayor of South Euclid and representatives of the Ohio National Guard to Serbia, on the basis of a very successful military-to-military cooperation within the state partnership lasting for over 11 years (established back in 2006), and the possibilities for extending this cooperation to include the civilian part as an important segment of bilateral relations between the Republic of Serbia and the United States.
It was noted that the establishment of the civilian segment of this cooperation contributed to the further improvement of relations between the two countries in several areas, through various initiatives to put in touch companies from Serbia and Ohio as well as the academic and cultural institutions.
The two sides indicated that the fact that a large number of Serbian expatriates traditionally lived in Ohio was one more reason to further enhance cultural, educational and economic ties between Serbia and Ohio.
The delegation will also visit Kraljevo to attend the twinning ceremony between South Euclid and Kraljevo cities.
