First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic had a meeting today with Sergey Kislyak, Deputy Chairman of the Federal Assembly Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, who is visiting Belgrade to participate in the International Parliamentary Conference “Towards Peace and Development through the European Union Idea”.
In the light of marking Victory Day, 9 May, in Moscow, Minister Dacic underlined that Serbia had a great honour and pleasure to be represented at the celebration at the highest level, through the participation of President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic, who headed the Immortal Regiment March, together with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, which was followed by the laying of wreaths on the Tomb of the Unknown Hero.
Minister Dacic further stated that the date was highly important for the history of our peoples, and for the memory of all Russian and Serbian heroes who gave their life, contributing to the fight for freedom and against fascism.
The interlocutors’ mutual assessment indicated that the bilateral relations were at an exceptionally high level, particularly regarding the intensity of political dialogue, and that they were characterized not only by the closeness between the two peoples, but mutual support and understanding, as well.
