Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today the delegation of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Economics and Security Committee (ESC).
The delegation was led by Mr. Neemo Knip, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Transition and Development (ESCTD), while the delegation members also included President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Palo Ali and prominent delegates from the Member and Partner countries.
In the meeting, topics of vital importance to the Republic of Serbia were discussed. Minister Dacic briefed his interlocutors on the conduct of the country’s European integration process, regional cooperation and on the relations with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.
On the cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and NATO, the Serbian FM informed the NATO PA delegation that Serbia pursued a policy of military neutrality, that it had no aspirations to become a Member of the North Atlantic Alliance or of any other military treaty organization, while the cooperation with NATO was successfully maintained through the Partnership for Peace (PfP) program. He also pointed out that Serbia had successful cooperation with KFOR, in which context an undiminished presence of KFOR in our southern province was extremely important for maintaining security and ensuring the survival of Serb and other non-Albanian communities in Kosovo and Metohija.
Serbia’s Foreign Minister underscored the commitment of the Republic of Serbia to regional cooperation with the aim of preserving stability and the overall economic development of the region as a whole.
