First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked today to Defence Minister of the Slovak Republic Peter Gajdoš.
In a cordial meeting, both sides assessed that the two countries’ bilateral relations were traditionally good and friendly, underlining their satisfaction with an intensive and continuous political dialogue at all levels, and expressing interest in further deepening of all forms of bilateral, and defence cooperation in particular.
Minister Dacic expressed his gratitude for the Slovak Republic’s continuous support to Serbia’s European integration process, conveying his belief that that it would be maintained in the future, too. He underlined that the Serbian side highly valued the principled support that Slovakia lent to the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Serbia and to reaching a compromise solution to the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
Slovak Defence Minister Peter Gajdoš expressed the readiness of his country to further develop intensive communication and collaboration with the Republic of Serbia, in all areas, and especially in the field of defence. He reiterated that Slovakia adhered to its principled position – non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo, and that his country would continue to offer full support to the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia.
Minister Dacic expressed his belief that this year’s marking of the one hundredth anniversary since the establishment of diplomatic relations, dating back to the times of the former Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, and the former Czechoslovakia, would add impetus to the deepening of our bilateral relations at all levels.
