Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for European Union Marina Jovicevic participated in the seminar “European integration of the Western Balkans”, organized by the European Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sweden, in Stockholm on 18 December 2015.
The main topic of the seminar, which was open to the public, was fostering the enlargement policy and strengthening regional cooperation. The participants stressed the need for the European Union and the Member States to continue to provide full support to the region in their efforts to integrate into the European Union as quickly as possible.
Swedish Foreign Minister Margot Wallstrom reiterated once again that Sweden would continue, as before, to be consistently committed to the EU accession of all countries of the Western Balkans, in line with the achievements of each individual country.
Commissioner for Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn affirmatively assessed the progress of the Western Balkans in the EU integration and regional cooperation during 2015 and announced further support of the European Commission for the enlargement process and better linking the region within the Berlin process.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Macedonia, Ministers for European integration of Albania and Kosovo*, Deputy Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina and State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Montenegro participated in the seminar, too.
