First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today H.E. Ms. Ilham Ahmed, the new Ambassador of the Republic of the Sudan, who presented her Letters of Credence to President of the Republic of Serbia Tomislav Nikolic, thereby officially assuming duties of the Ambassador of Sudan to Serbia on a non-resident basis, with residence in Sofia.
Minister Dacic pointed to the need to strengthen the political dialogue between the two countries as well as to promote cooperation in economy, culture and education, expressing gratitude to his interlocutor for the position of Sudan concerning the issue of Kosovo and Metohija.
The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the announced visit by Foreign Minister of Sudan Ibrahim Ghandour to Serbia, expressing Serbia’s readiness to hold regular political consultations with the Sudanese side.
Ambassador Ilham Ahmed agreed that relations between the two countries were good, dating far back to the past, and a solid foundation for the development of all forms of cooperation, reiterating the support of Sudan to the unity and territorial integrity of the Republic of Serbia.
