The OSCE Annual Security Review Conference was held in Vienna from 28-30 June 2016. This annual conference, held regularly in line with the OSCE Ministerial Council Decision of December 2002, is the OSCE’s key event within its first, politico-military dimension.
The Acting Assistant Foreign Minister for Security Policy, Ambassador Branimir Filipovic, and Head of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Serbia to OSCE and other international organisations in Vienna, Ambassador Vuk Zugic, took part in the event on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Ministry of Defence was represented by the Representative of the Assistant Minister for Defence Policy and Head of the Organization Department of Defence Policy Sector, Major General Sladjan Djordjevic.
At the opening of the Conference, the participants discussed the issue of European security, exchanging views on key security issues and the OSCE’s contribution in facing them. Furthermore, individual sessions were held to discuss the following: ensuring security and stability in the OSCE region against the backdrop of the developments in Ukraine; the conflict situations dealt with by the OSCE; challenges posed by transnational security threats, such as uncontrolled migration and terrorism, strengthening of OSCE tools in crisis prevention and management, as well as post-conflict rehabilitation, conventional arms control and confidence- building measures (CBMs).
