Bilateral cooperation between Serbia and Ghana was restored, in a short time, to a high level of relations that existed between the SFRY and Ghana

Ivica Dacic with Ms. Shirley BotchwayAt a ceremony held at the Serbia Mission to the UN, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of Ghana, Ms. Shirley Botchway, signed the Memorandum of Understanding on Agricultural Cooperation.

In a substantive talks, the two Ministers concluded that the bilateral cooperation between the two states was restored to a high level that existed at the time of comprehensive and friendly cooperation between the SFRY and Ghana.

Signing of the Memorandum was done in the room and at the table at which Presidents Josip Broz Tito, Nasser, Sukarno and Nkrumah (President of Ghana) agreed, in September 1960, on holding the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries in Belgrade, in 1961. The Foreign Minister of Ghana said that it was a great honour for her to sit at the same table at which the Non-Aligned Movement was launched.


Regional cooperation and European integration process complement each other

Working breakfast of the Western Balkan Foreign Ministers First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic participated today in New York at a working breakfast of the Western Balkan Foreign Ministers with EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn. The Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) organized the working breakfast as a side-event to the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

RCC Secretary General Goran Svilanovic presented the track record, as well as the plans and challenges facing further progress on regional cooperation.

Commissioner Hahn particularly stressed the importance of regional cooperation for the European integration process, and the need to streamline the large number of regional initiatives.

The meeting examined issues pertinent to the future development of regional cooperation, especially trade, investment in stronger connectivity and mobility and enhancement of digital integration.

The participants also discussed the necessity to streamline the large number of regional initiatives existing side-by-side in the Western Balkans, and the importance of mutual information-sharing both among RCC members and internally, in the preparation of regional meetings.


Minister Dacic talks to high-level world officials on the eve of the UNGA 73 opening

Ivica Dacic First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic, who is visiting New York as a member of the Serbian delegation to the 73rd Session of the United Nations General Assembly, had several meetings today with senior world officials at the UN Headquarters.

Ahead of the Session, the Serbian Foreign Minister also briefly conversed with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Alexis Tsipras and Chairman of the BiH Presidency Bakir Izetbegovic.

Minister Dacic will use his time in New York to hold many bilateral meetings. He will also take part in multilateral side-events during the UN Week, primarily with the aim of improving Serbia’s global position.


Minister Dacic in talks with OSCE Secretary General

Dacoc and GremingerIn the margins of the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today with OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger.

In the substantive talks, the OSCE Secretary General informed Minister Dacic about the course of preparations for the upcoming 25th OSCE Ministerial Council in Milan. Furthermore, he expressed thanks for the support offered to the activity of the OSCE Mission in Belgrade and for the intensified dialogue the Mission engaged in with Serbian institutions.

The Serbian Foreign Minister was pleased with the work done and results achieved in cooperation with the OSCE.

The collocutors also exchanged views on all issues of interest for the activity of the OSCE and for Serbia’s engagement within the Organization towards the enhancement of cooperation.

The OSCE Secretary General offered his full support to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and efforts to reach a sustainable solution by political means.
