First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received a courtesy call today from the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium in the Republic of Serbia Adam Koenraad.
In friendly talks, the collocutors noted that the bilateral relations between the two countries were good, but that there was still room for their further enhancement. It is in the interest of Serbia that relations with Belgium be as good as possible. In this context, Serbia has put major effort in order to be recognized as a reliable, responsible and predictable partner in the Western Balkans region.
The collocutors exchanged views on the possibilities for further promotion of bilateral relations, the European integration process of the Republic of Serbia, the issue of Kosovo and Metohija and multilateral cooperation.
Both parties voiced their pleasure at the establishment of political dialogue, noting an upward trend in the last few years. Since there were around 50 Belgium companies operating in Serbia, Minister Dacic drew attention to the need to further strengthen economic cooperation through the constant increase in foreign trade exchange and the realization of new Belgium investment.
Minister Dacic thanked Ambassador Koenraad for the support Belgium had lent so far to the accession of Serbia to the EU and expressed his hope that Belgium would continue, within the context of the EU, to influence the adequate valorization of the efforts Serbia’s had made regarding reforms.
Minister Dacic also stressed Serbia’s commitment to resolving all issues in the Western Balkan region through dialogue, in good faith and without being conditioned.
