Acting Assistant Foreign Minister Goran Aleksic was on a visit to Bishkek and, in his capacity as Special Envoy of the Serbian Prime Minister, met with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev, on which occasion he delivered to him a letter from Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic to Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov.
Both sides expressed support to the respect of the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of internationally recognized states, and Serbia’s gratitude was conveyed to the Kyrgyz side for their firm position concerning non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo.
The Kyrgyz side underlined the country’s great interest for a more active cooperation with the Republic of Serbia at all levels. A firm commitment of both sides to further development and promotion of overall relations was noted, in particular at political and economic levels, as well as in the fields of culture and tourism. They emphasized the importance of organizing high- and top-level meetings in the period to come, as well as establishing a regular political dialogue in the areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The first round of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was also held, at the level of Assistant Ministers for bilateral cooperation. The Serbian side was headed by Acting Assistant Minister Goran Aleksic, while the Kyrgyz side was led by Assistant Foreign Minister Emil Kaikiev.
