First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic participated today in Catania in the Adriatic and Ionian Council/EUSAIR Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region, at the invitation of Foreign Minister of the Italian Republic Angelino Alfano.
The event included participation of Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia, Greece, Republic of Slovenia and Montenegro.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in Southeast Europe and their impact on regional cooperation and adopted a Joint Declaration on current challenges in the region. Considering the importance of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative and the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region as well as the need for an intensified interaction with EU institutions, representatives of the European Commission were also in attendance.
At this year’s meeting, Macedonia was admitted to membership of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.
