Gabriela Cuevas Barron visit helps to enhance inter-parliamentary dialogue, parliamentary diplomacy and cooperation with IPU

Ivica DacicFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic talked today to Mexican Senator Gabriela Cuevas Barron, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), who is paying a visit to Belgrade to participate in the regional Sustainable Development Goals seminar, co-organized by IPU and the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

Minister Dacic emphasized that the Republic of Serbia has continually been a member of this largest international parliamentary organization for full 127 years now, and that it perceived IPU as a very important organization tackling current global issues, often in collaboration with the United Nations.

The IPU President praised Serbia’s past engagement and activities within the Organization, noting that there was significant room for the enhancement of cooperation and for Serbia’s additional engagement within it.

It was underscored in the talks that the visit of IPU President Gabriela Cuevas Barron would significantly contribute to the further enhancement of the inter-parliamentary dialogue, parliamentary diplomacy and collaboration with IPU. The implementation of the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, a subject of the Serbian Government’s special attention, featured as one of the major topics of the talks.


Minister Dacic takes part in the Adriatic and Ionian Council/EUSAIR Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region

CataniaFirst Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic participated today in Catania in the Adriatic and Ionian Council/EUSAIR Ministerial Meeting and the 3rd Annual Forum of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region, at the invitation of Foreign Minister of the Italian Republic Angelino Alfano.

The event included participation of Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Republic of Croatia, Greece, Republic of Slovenia and Montenegro.

The meeting discussed the latest developments in Southeast Europe and their impact on regional cooperation and adopted a Joint Declaration on current challenges in the region. Considering the importance of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative and the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region as well as the need for an intensified interaction with EU institutions, representatives of the European Commission were also in attendance.

At this year’s meeting, Macedonia was admitted to membership of the Adriatic and Ionian Initiative.


State Secretary Toncev and Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic confer on bilateral relations, European integration and multilateral cooperation

Ivica Toncev with Jakub DürrState Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ivica Toncev had talks today with the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic Jakub Dürr.

The two collocutors exchanged views on bilateral relations, European integration and multilateral cooperation.

Both underlined that Serbia and the Czech Republic had good relations void of any outstanding issues. They also noted that the Czech Republic strongly supported the European integration of Serbia and regional cooperation in the Western Balkan region, based on the model of V4 member states.

State Secretary Toncev emphasized that Belgrade was interested in the dialogue with the authorities in Pristina, recalling that Serbia expects the Community of Serb Municipalities to be established soon, as envisaged under the Brussels Agreement. He underlined that it was necessary that both parties demonstrated good will in order to make concrete steps forward in the dialogue.

During the talks, it was also pointed out that the Czech Republic was among the 15 largest trading partners of Serbia and that their trade was nearing EUR 1 billion on an annual level. Good position of the Czech minority in Serbia and of the Serb minority in the Czech Republic was another good example in the relations between the two countries.

Тим поводом, Драгана Вујић је испред Министарства спољних послова положила венац на споменик браћи Ћирилу и Методију, у Вуковом парку, у Београду.

Венце су на споменик положили и представници Града Београда, амбасада словенских земаља, удружења и грађани.
