The sixth bilateral political consultations between the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Korea were held on 22 June 2016, in Seoul. The talks between the two Foreign Ministries’ delegations were headed by the Acting Assistant Minister for Bilateral Cooperation, Ambassador Goran Aleksic and Kim Hyoung-zhin, Deputy Minister for Political Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea.
The consultations included a thorough-going exchange of views on current issues of bilateral relations and cooperation, and on major regional and multilateral topics. Both sides noted that the bilateral relations had lately seen a very positive course of development, which was also reaffirmed by four inter-state agreements signed over the past six months. They expressed their expectation that an exchange of high-level visits would soon take place, and that both a favourable business environment in Serbia and the re-opening of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) branch in Belgrade would lead to a more tangible growth of trade and a larger flow of Korean investment into the Serbian economy.
The MFA delegation of the Republic of Serbia was received by Lim Sung-nam, the first Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea. Mutual readiness for the overall development of bilateral relations was expressed in brief and cordial talks.
The delegation visited the Korea National Diplomatic Academy on 23 June 2016, where it had talks with the Academy’s Chancellor Yun Duk-min. On the occasion, Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in the Republic of Korea Zoran Kazazovic and Chancellor of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy Yun Duk-min signed the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Diplomatic Academies, establishing the core principles of relations and cooperation between the two countries’ diplomatic training and education institutions.
