On the occasion of the strong earthquake which hit Papua New Guinea on February 26, 2018, Vice President and MFA of the Government of Serbia Mr Ivica Dačić sent the folowing condolence message to the MFA of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea Mr. Rimbink Pato:
„In the wake of a devastating earthquake that hit Papua New Guinea on 26 February, taking a heavy toll on human life and causing an extensive material damage to your country, I offer you, on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and on my own behalf, deepest condolences.
I would be grateful if you conveyed to the families of the victims heartfelt sympathies of the citizens of Serbia as well as words of encouragement and support to the residents of affected areas at this difficult time as they try to cope with the consequences.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration and you may rest assured that even though our countries are far apart, Papua New Guinea may count on Serbia as a true friend and a reliable partner.”
