Serbian Ambassador Visits Serbian Churches in Vancouver

Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Canada, Stefan Tomašević, during his visit to the province of British Columbia, visited the Church of Saint Sava in Vancouver.

During meetings with clergy, representatives of the Church-School Municipality, and parishioners, Ambassador Tomašević discussed the position of the Serbian community and the church in Vancouver, their activities, and possible ways to further strengthen ties with the homeland. In an open discussion with the Serbian community, organized on the premises of the Church-School Municipality and attended by priests Father Vuk Milišić and Father Marko Radmanović, the importance of preserving the spiritual and cultural identity of the Serbian people in Canada was emphasized. The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and highlighted the importance of the diaspora’s role in enhancing bilateral relations and preserving tradition, expressing his readiness to support future initiatives aimed at improving the visibility of the Serbian community and promoting Serbian culture.

Later, accompanied by Honorary Consul Peter Vladiković and First Secretary Sandra Hadžagić, Ambassador Tomašević also visited the Church of the Holy Archangel Michael in Burnaby. On that occasion, the Ambassador spoke with Priest Siniša Milutinović and representatives of the Church-School Municipality about their activities, as well as the importance of preserving religious and cultural identity in the diaspora. Special attention was given to the role of the church as a place for gathering and nurturing tradition. The Ambassador expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of support from the homeland to compatriots abroad, as well as his readiness to further enhance cooperation in the future.
