First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic has met with the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Ms. Isabel Duran, who officially opened the 39th regional course for the countries with economies in transition in Belgrade today. The Course is being held in Belgrade for the fourth time in a row.
Minister Dacic voiced pleasure at the first visit paid by Isabel Duran to the Republic of Serbia, being an excellent opportunity for the talks on the possibilities of promoting the existing cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and UNCTAD.
Minister Dacic also referred to the development partnership framework between the Republic of Serbia and the UN for the period from 2016 to 2020, encompassing the UNCTAD activities as well, in the context of its contribution to the efforts made by the Government of the Republic of Serbia aimed at promoting the key challenges in the economic, social and environmental areas.
Minister Dacic also presented efforts and activities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in implementing the 2030 UN Agenda for Sustainable Development, and expressed his conviction that UNCTAD, along with other UN specialized agencies, will continue to contribute to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Serbia.
The two collocutors expressed their pleasure at the successful cooperation between the Republic of Serbia and UNCTAD in organizing the mentioned regional course, in the context of the significance of the initiative for the promotion of trade policies of the countries in transition.
