First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic met today on the margins of the Informal Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of EU Member States and candidate countries, held in Amsterdam, with Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto.
The Ministers discussed the strengthening of bilateral cooperation, primarily in the fields of economy, energy and infrastructure. Readiness was expressed by Hungary to provide technical assistance in building Serbia’s capacities for coping with the challenges posed by the migrant crisis.
Minister Szijjarto expressed full support for Serbia’s European integration process and conveyed that Hungary would, as early as next week, give its consent to the opening of Chapter 23, also expressing hope that Chapters 23 and 24 would be opened by the close of the Dutch EU Presidency.
