First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic received today a courtesy call from the newly-appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to the Republic of Serbia, Gordan Bakota.
Minister Dacic wished the Croatian Ambassador welcome to Serbia and a successful term-of-office, expressing his belief that, in the coming period, the two countries would establish more diversified bilateral relations on the basis of mutual respect and maintenance of good-neighbourly relations.
Minister Dacic and Ambassador Bakota agreed that, in the coming period, both sides should focus on the future and on breaking the impasse in the work of the joint intergovernmental committees tasked with resolving the open issues between the two countries. Interlocutors also agreed that President Aleksandar Vucic’s planned visit to Zagreb would be a positive step forward in the relations between the two countries, and expressed both countries’ readiness to jointly work on creating the conditions necessary for its soonest possible realization.
Minister Dacic took the opportunity to extend an invitation to the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Marija Pejcinović Buric, to make a bilateral visit to Serbia.
