First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Ivica Dacic is on a visit to Israel.
Minister Dacic had talks today with the highest officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Regional Development Tzachi Hanegbi and Deputy Minister of Diplomacy in the Prime Minister’s Office Michael Oren.
The two sides noted a high level of friendship existing between the two countries and two peoples, demonstrated especially in the most difficult moments in history.
Minister Dacic expressed his special thanks for Israel’s support and understanding regarding the issue of Kosovo and Metohija, while the Israeli side confirmed its strong determination to uphold this position.
The interlocutors of Minister Dacic took the opportunity to express their gratitude for Serbia’s adoption of the Law on Restitution of Property of Holocaust Victims, and Serbia’s commitment to finalize the project on the construction of Staro Sajmiste Memorial Centre.
They jointly noted that the visit was yet another proof of the very good relations existing between the two countries and of an ascending line in the mutual understanding on issues of interest to both sides.
During the visit, Minister Dacic visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Centre in Jerusalem, where he laid a wreath in the Memory Hall and paid respects to Jasenovac victims. He also visited and laid a wreath on the grave of former President of Israel Shimon Perez.
