Dacic:”Bilateral relations between Serbia and France should be stepped up in all areas”

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic met today with Senator Olivier Cadic, a member of the French Senate’s Foreign Affairs, Defence and Armed Forces Committee.

Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to preserving the memory of historical friendship between Serbian and French people dating back to the two countries’ alliance in the First World War as a foundation for the further strengthening of their bilateral relations.

Minster Dacic expressed gratitude to France for its support to Serbia’s EU accession efforts and pointed out that in the period ahead bilateral relations in all areas should be stepped up, particularly in the economic field. He expressed his hope that President Macron would pay a visit to Serbia next year.

Senator Cadic underlined that the purpose of his visit to Belgrade was to convey his powerful support to the process of Serbia’s EU accession. In that context, he laid a special emphasis on major economic progress achieved by Serbia and its central role in securing the stability of the entire region.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction that a decision was made for Serbia to become a full-fledged member of the International Organization of La Francophonie.
